How do I calculate the required margin for trading?

It can be calculated with the formula below:

*margin = number of contracts (lot) x contract unit x price at the time / leverage
 

For example, trading 1 lot of EUR/USD with 500:1 leverage at a price of 1.10000: 

 1  x 100,000  x 1.10000  / 500 = 220

Note: Some currency pairs, such as USD/JPY, have a contract unit of 1,000.  The exact contract unit can be found in the MT4/5 asset description.
